George Floyd

A Timeline of Suspicious Black Deaths Following George Floyd’s

Since George Floyd’s death by a Minneapolis police officer on May 25, there have been protests across the globe in support of police reform and against police brutality. While the rallies have been largely peaceful, there have been fears that they will lead to an increase in violence from white supremacist groups. There has yet to be an organized response by these groups, but there has been an uptick in suspicious deaths—including hangings—of Black men and women. Here, a timeline of some of the deaths over the past three weeks.https://www.colorlines.com/articles/timeline-suspicious-black-deaths-following-george-floyds?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=06_18_2020&utm_term=A%20Timeline%20of%20Suspicious%20Black%20Deaths%20Following%20George%20Floyd%27s&&utm_content=email&&

Fire and Protests in the Twin Cities

A third day of protests took place yesterday in Minnesota’s Twin Cities, with demonstrators angered over the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis on Monday, after an officer kneeled on his neck and ignored his pleas that he couldn’t breathe. https://www.theatlantic.com/photo/2020/05/photos-fire-and-protests-twin-cities/612325/

Race Forward Statement on the Killing of George Floyd

With rage and grief, Race Forward calls for justice for George Floyd—an innocent and unarmed Black man who was killed on Monday May 25, by white Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. Video shows Chauvin pinning Floyd to the ground with his knee to Floyd’s neck for eight minutes, while Floyd repeatedly stated that he could not breathe, and that Chauvin was hurting him. Three other police officers stood by, not intervening.https://www.raceforward.org/press/statements/race-forward-statement-killing-george-floyd?utm_term=they%20all%20deserve%20justice&utm_campaign=Black%20Lives%2C%20and%20100%2C000%20COVID-19%20Related%20Deaths&utm_content=email&utm_source=Act-On+Software&utm_medium=email

Schwierige Analogien
